Nagomi

One of the first, or perhaps the first Japanese restaurant in Geneva opened 34 years ago now, and is a true establishment for connoisseurs. The minute you walk in the door, you are transported to a peaceful oasis in Japan (Nagomi means peace, sincerity and tranquility), thanks to the sober and elegant woodwork built using hinoki (Japanese cyprus) by the first owner. Sushi, sashimi and other dishes, particularly meat dishes less familiar to amateurs of Japanese cuisine, would be more aptly described as art than as food. What’s more, it is possible to watch the master at work behind the counter, using the unique knife made especially for him in Japan.
