5 sens

At the “5 sens” (5 senses) just behind the train station, the decoration is not typically African. The aim here is to welcome diners in a more familiar atmosphere that encourages them to come in and discover delicious Senegalese cuisine. The owner wants to raise the profile of African and Senegalese food, which is still relatively unknown to most, but which actually has a lot in common with food from other continents - sharing ingredients such as yam, tapioca and grilled chicken with Latin America, rice with Asia and okra with Haïti. The restaurant welcomes numerous United Nations officials, as well as bankers and local residents of a variety of nationalities, and it is possible to order a typical homemade sorrel drink, local or South African wines, or an African Guinness, which has a completely different taste from its European relative.
